Requirements To Become A Nurse

Of course one of the most obvious requirements is the educational requirment. People who want to pursue this career usually take the course BSN or bachelor of science in nursing or any degree associate in nursing. Taking the bachelors of science in nursing will take you four years while the associate degree will take you two to three full years. You should take this courses from a university or a college which is accredited by the nursing program. There are also programs for diploma nurses which are being done in hospitals today and it will usually take you three years for you to be able to complete the program. While you can find in some community colleges the degree associate's program, the degree in bachelor's are being offered in colleges and universities and it will take youi four full years to be able to complete it. These students will usually learn anatomy, nursing theory, nutrition, biology, chemistry and other subjects that are related.

Another is by obtaining the master's degree when it comes to nursing or also known as MSN. Usually this will take you three full years for you to be able to complete the course. There are some master's degree in nursing that only accepts application to people who are already registered licensed nurse. People who are taking direct master's degree in nursing programs are those who don't have any degree in nursing but they want to change the path of their career and become a full time nurse.

Another requirement is by taking the NCLEX or what is more popularly known as the national council licensure examination after graduating from BSN or bachelor of science in nursing. This examination is being given by the NCSBN or the national council of state boards of nursing. The criteria for the licensing will be different depending on the state that you are in. If you are continuing your education you should then renew your license for you to be an effective licensed nurse.
